Always An Adventure…

Living a life of faith is always an adventure. Lori and I thought that the adventure would begin when we set foot on the ground at the Entebbe Airport. The sights, sounds, and smells of Africa would bring us to a place of realizing that we are in complete reliance on the Lord. Little did I know that the adventure has already started.

This past couple of weeks have been quite challenging for us. We had an offer on our home and it sold rather quickly. So, after the offer was finalized we figured we would look for a house and move after ours closed… Well, if you haven’t been paying attention, the housing market in Portland is ridiculous. We have spent three weeks looking for a place to live and nothing was working out. I spent hours looking at homes, searching on the internet, and asking people I knew if they have heard of any homes available… All leading to closed doors.

Lori, Grayson, and I became fairly tired and troubled. I remember us sitting in the kitchen and praying for God to provide for us and direct us to the right home that will be just what we need for the next several months before we leave full time to Uganda. It was as if the Lord had reminded me to live by faith. Something I thought I was doing, but soon realized that I was finding my peace in the things I could see around me. God promises us that he will care for our needs. He tells us that he knows all that is going on in our lives and he can provide when it seems impossible. But somehow I forgot all that. I forgot that he just might be working behind the scenes even when it seems like nothing is happening.

So here we are today. We will be moving out of our home in just a couple short weeks and God has provided for us just what we needed. A small two bedroom home with everything we need. Oh sure, we’ll be downsizing to fit into this place, but it is only the beginning as we sell off all we own to follow him in even greater ways in the coming months.

Thank you for all your prayers and support over the past month. Here are some of the things we can use prayer for:

  • Keith is needing shoulder surgery and it is scheduled 5 days before we depart for Uganda. (Lori will be my physical therapist while we are away)
  • Pray for work situations that are too complicated to explain 🙂
  • Smooth transition from one home to another as we move in the next 30 days
  • Finances for our trip and the travel Keith and Bill James will be doing later this year
  • Pray for Bill and Danyal James and the team in Uganda for strength and encouragement
  • Grayson can get ahead in his schoolwork

We are so blessed to be walking in the steps God has laid before us and to be a part of His mighty work…

Blessings,
Keith
